"METAMORPHOSIS"

SEP 2024

“In 2004, the EPA forced PREPA to reduce the sulfur content of oil burning to protect the residents of Toa Baja, who faced the highest incidence of cancer and other respiratory-related health conditions on the island. The Palo Seco community has always been environmentally impacted by the plant’s operations. And when the winds blow from east to west, waste from the plant’s chimneys reaches homes, schools and other structures in Levittown.” (Source: Noticel)

In the midst of adversity, nature adapts and flourishes. This intervention symbolizes the metamorphosis of the Palo Seco community, a reflection of resistance to the environmental pollution they have faced for years and the hope for a cleaner future.
